Does it matter what kind of detergent I use?
You should not use bleach or fabric softener when caring for your diapers. Avoid using rash creams with your cloth diapers. If you must use a rash cream, we recommend you use a liner to protect your diaper. Click here for more detailed notes on detergent, fabric softener, and rash creams.
How often do I need to wash my diapers?
We recommend a three (3) day wash cycle. This allows you to have a reasonable amount of diapers in your stash, and prevents you from having bad odors in your diaper pail.
How many diapers do I need to buy?
We recommend that you purchase 24-30 diapers. This amount will enable you to wash on a three day cycle, with a few diapers to spare. Smaller babies go through more diapers (10-12 per day) while older babies use less diapers (8-10 per day).
If you are using prefolds you should purchase 4-6 diaper covers. The covers can be reused as long as they are not soiled, but should still be washed often.
